Its very wide bore with traces of nodes has a natural shape so the flute’s voice is soft and windy. This instrument isn’t a traditional one. So you can try to play honkyoku on it but it would probably sound quite unusual. Besides, the flute isn’t well-suited for beginners. This shakuhachi holds a special place in my heart.
